Out in the World

Weekly Jr. Adventures Field Trips

Getting connected to the world around us to spark curiosity and widen wonder.

Weekly field trips invite children to explore, move, and discover new places together. These adventures spark curiosity, build confidence, and make summer feel joyful and memorable.

Field trips offer rich opportunities for:

  • Expanding curiosity and real-world awareness
  • Building confidence and independence
  • Strengthening social bonds and shared experiences
  • Learning through movement, play, and exploration

Our Summer Philosophy

Junior Adventures carries the same Reggio-inspired values that guide our school-year programs:

Summer allows us to slow down, stretch out, and say yes to longer projects, spontaneous discoveries, messy art, outdoor adventures, and meaningful field trips. Children are encouraged to ask questions, try new things, collaborate with peers, and experience the freedom that fuels creativity and confidence.

Children are capable, curious, and full of ideas

The environment and the community are teachers

Learning happens through relationships, experiences, and exploration

Play, joy, and wonder are essential to development

Summer Play, the SHED Way

Summer at SHED feels active, alive, and memorable.

Children spend significant time outdoors each day, engaging in free play, nature exploration, water activities, and field trips that connect learning to the real world.

These experiences support physical development, social growth, confidence, and a deep sense of joy.

Children spend meaningful time outdoors each day exploring nature, engaging in free play, and learning with the world around them. The natural environment acts as a teacher, supporting curiosity, confidence, and regulation.

Exploration comes to life through open-ended art, gardening, science, and collaborative projects. Children express ideas in many ways, with projects evolving from their interests rather than predetermined outcomes.

Water play build physical confidence and coordination while bringing pure summer joy. These moments create connection, resilience, and memories that make summer feel special.

Movement is woven throughout the day through music, dance, field games, and active play. These experiences support coordination, rhythm, social connection, and emotional well-being because young children learn through their bodies.
